LOY Yang Power, operator of the Loy Yang “A” coal-fired power station in Victoria, is to replace the facility’s ageing control systems at a cost of $30 million. The contract has been awarded to Yokogawa Australia .
Victoria’s largest thermal power station went into operation in 1984. Total output is 2200 MW, provided by four power generators.

The package includes the Centum CS 3000 R3 production control system, Stardom network-based control system, ProSafe-RS safety instrumented system, Exaquantum plant information management system and related package software, plus engineering for these systems.
A power plant training simulator from TechComm Simulation, a wholly-owned Yokogawa subsidiary in Australia, will also be included.
