Tool for testing UMT/WCDMA mobiles

YOKOGAWAAustralia has released the VC100, a tool for testing UMT/WCDMA mobiles during manufacture, maintenance, servicing, troubleshooting and point of sale.

Automatically performs signalling tests.

It has an autotest mode so that mobiles can easily be tested without the operator needing any expertise. The unit automatically performs several signalling tests including registration, call setup and release from network and the mobile phone. In manual mode the VC100 can be set for individual signalling tests from a displayed list, including a loop mode where measurement tests can be performed with varying power levels.

It performs Tx and Rx characteristics tests including output power, frequency error, modulation accuracy and loop back BER. Test parameters can be altered and saved to a specific parameter file for individual mobile phones by an administrator but not able to be edited by an operator.

It can also be used in transmitter testing or as a source for physical layer testing. A current measuring function is available for monitoring current in idle and connected modes.

The VC100 is equipped with a 100BASE-TX/10BASE-T Ethernet port, allowing it to be easily connected to a network and be controlled by a PC which can be used to also edit parameter files and transfer test results to a file or printer.
