Digital solution for Italian label specialist

Supplier News

LEADING Italian label printer, Indet, based in Gallarate in Northern Italy, has purchased the country's second Xeikon 330 LabelSprint digital press from Punch Graphix Italia.

Company owners Adriano Gozzi and Francesco Mason have been producing labels for many applications for over twenty five years at Indet, and work with customers from initial design through to delivery of the final product.

The company's expertise extends throughout many markets, including the cosmetic, cleansing, chemical, pharmaceutical, food and wine industries.

The move into the world of digital label production has been prompted by customer demand.

Customers are now asking Indet for shorter run label products and digital is the only right response to that says Indet.

In addition to short run they also see opportunities to enter markets demanding variable data.

Punch Graphix Italia offered Indet a total solution, LabelSprint, providing the printing press and finishing equipment all in one package.

The integration of an extensive finishing unit with the digital press means that we can complete a job in one pass and with great flexibility. Indet has ordered a five-colour printing press, which means that it can also include a base white ink, to create that "no-label-look", along with the four standard process colours.

This fifth unit can also be used by Indet to print customer specific spot-colours.

The LabelSprint from Xeikon includes the in-line D-Coat finishing line, which can also be used in off-line mode should the requirements of the job demand it.

The capabilities in the finishing unit consist of a rewinder, unwinder (for off-line work), semi-rotary hot foil, flood and spot varnish, high gloss finish, two semi-rotary die cut stations, slitting and dual rewind.

The web-fed Xeikon 330 is able to print on label stock, paper and synthetic media in widths up to 330mm and weights up to 250gsm.

The variable data capability of the X-800 digital front-end means that labels can incorporate regular changes in image.

The X-800 front-end is a highly impressive front-end, according to Indet.

With integrated sequential numbering and barcode generator after RIPping, extensive imposition capabilities, PDF job report, and many other features, Xeikon's X-800 outclasses all of the competitive products with its wide range of functionality, says Indet.

The Xeikon 330 prints at an equivalent of 2,400 dots per inch resolution, providing effective screen rulings of up to 170 lines per inch, which means that it can deliver sharper images and smoother shades than can be achieved via either screen or flexo label printing.

Xeikon - a Punch Graphix brand - is the world's leading provider of digital colour printing solutions for professional applications.
