WriteRelease offer insights on the upcoming 2009 Safety In Action Conference. Sponsored by WorkSafe Victoria , the 2009 Safety In Action Conference will feature keynote speakers who will shape the direction of safety management in Australia. These details were released by the Safety Institute of Australia (Victoria Division).

The line-up of keynote speakers features:

  • Barry Sherriff speaking about his experiences on the National Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Review Panel
  • Professor Michael Quinlan, author of a 422-page expert report on OHS management at the Beaconsfield Joint Venture Gold Mine
  • John Merritt, Executive Director of WorkSafe Victoria
The three speakers will join an estimated 60 local and international speakers, addressing 12 important management themes which include:

  • Corporate governance
  • Environment management
  • ‘The Juggler’ safety in small business
  • Risk management
  • Community and public safety
  • Safety culture
  • Defence – OHS emergency planning
  • Safety education
  • Transport safety
  • Lessons from major accidents
  • Recruitment and labour hire
  • Wellness in the workplace
The addresses from the speakers will be complemented by sessions with a practical emphasis for safety practitioners, interactive events and workshops. Conference chair, Phillip Kamay said that the 2009 Safety In Action Conference builds on a body of expertise, forged by members of the Safety Institute of Australia over 12 conferences and a 60-year heritage.

The Safety In Action Conference will run from March to April at the Melbourne Convention Centre. The conference will also mark the 60th anniversary of the host, the Safety Institute of Australia.
