Employers and employees will have the opportunity to learn how simple it is to improve safety in their workplace at the WorkSafe display on Stand 3822 during National Manufacturing Week 2007 at Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre, from May 22 to 25.
Staff from both WorkSafe Victoria and NSW WorkCover will be at the stand, ready to show visitors what they need to know about improving safety in the workplace.
According to WorkSafe, five minutes is all it will take for staff at the stand to help visitors identify potential hazards in their workplace, and provide them with solutions that will reduce risks.
WorkSafe is the occupational health and safety arm of the Victorian WorkCover Authority. WorkSafe is primarily responsible for the enforcement of the state’s workplace health and safety laws and promotion of safe work practices. The Victorian WorkCover Authority also operates Victoria’s employer-funded workplace insurance system through a series of authorised agents.
The WorkSafe team is responsible for improving workplace safety through implementing the organisation’s comprehensive constructive compliance strategy which focuses on information and education, incentives, enforcement, investigations, prosecutions and penalties.
