WorkSafe Victoria launch new commercial to highlight Y Gen workplace injuries

WorkSafe Victoria  commercials screened on prime time TV has created community awareness about the increased rate of young workers (15 to 24) treated at hospitals for workplace injuries.

Figures show that the future of the Australian workforce, often those in their first jobs, are almost twice as likely as their older counterparts to end up in the emergency section of Victorian hospitals for treatment after sustaining a workplace injury.

The situation is getting worse. As the rate of injuries for their Baby boomer and Gen X workmates continues to decline, the rate of Gen Y workers presenting at hospitals is growing.

WorkSafe Victoria have recently launched the WorkSafe Victoria Young Workers campaign in Melbourne. WorkSafe Victoria also presented a presentation, which included the figures of young injured workers.

Young workers who have suffered workplace injuries also attended the launch programme. Copies of the three new campaign ads and an injuries report were made available to the participants.
