WorkSafe Victoria will host an interactive forum in Rowville to help employers in Melbourne’s south and south east to make maximum use of the services of agent from WorkSafe Victoria for improving return to work outcomes.
WorkSafe Victoria will be joined by book retailer Borders, and both the companies will share the experiences of their compensation agents, describing their own expectations and how they have worked with their agents to optimise the services they receive and substantially reduce their claims costs.
According to WorkSafe Victoria’s Executive Director, Len Boehm employers in the south and south eastern suburbs have a high incidence of injuries and workers compensation claims.
From July 2002 to 30 December 2007, the regions of Monash, Kingston, Bayside, Glen Eira, Greater Dandenong, Frankston and Mornington Peninsula reported a combined total of over 32,600 claims, costing nearly $528 million in treatment, rehabilitation and compensation costs.
“Helping an injured worker return to work is good for the worker, their families and workmates, and it’s good for business,” Len Boehm said.
“With this in mind you begin to realise the importance of the role your workers compensation agent plays”.
“They should be critical in your return to work planning process and are there to help obtain the most successful return to work outcomes possible.”
The session will provide local employers and Return to Work Coordinators the opportunity to discuss about the tools, resources and strategies available through their compensation agent and the services WorkSafe Victoria is providing through its compensation agents to improve return to work outcomes and the level of service provided.
