The WorkSafe Awards organised by WorkSafe Victoria was held in Melbourne recently to recognise achievements in workplace safety.
More than 800 people attended the event held at the Docklands to applaud the latest heroes of workplace safety.
Two of the main WorkSafe awards were won by Melbourne companies Tenix and GHD.
Tenix won the Award for ‘Best OHS Solution in Construction and Utilities’ with their new invention designed for workers to handle conduits safely.
The Tenix invention is essential for people who transport, unload or work with huge coils of conduit or plastic conduits.
The big coils can weigh as much as 450kg, are difficult to handle as well as store and can flick out of control when being unwound creating risk of injury to the workers. The Tenix solution eliminates this threat effectively.
Melbourne consulting services company GHD, employing more than 700 workers in Victoria won the award for the best safety management system award for its safety system that has produced a dramatic decline in workplace injuries.
WorkSafe Victoria’s Executive Director for Health and Safety, Ian Forsyth congratulated Tenix and GHD on their awards.
