WILSON Hot Water Systems has released the ECOHP commercial hot water system. It is suitable for use by dairy farmers who use the system for sterilisation and wash down of milking machines and lines.
The system uses heat pump technology to recover heat energy from ambient air, waste heat from the building and machine exhausts. The energy recovered is then used to pre-heat the water required for the system.
The heat pump operates by using the refrigerant, which runs through the air conditioning coil. Because the refrigerant is colder than air, it collects heat energy from the ambient air passing through the coil. Heat energy is transferred to the water, by the refrigerant coil wrapped around the water tank in the heat pump. The heat pump's refrigeration compressor uses electric power, but only runs at intervals.
The ECOHP System is designed to further boost water temperature by accessing off peak power. Additional energy savings are possible if the evaporator part of the heat pump is positioned so it takes advantage of high temperature discharges from other sources.
