WOLF Safety, represented in Australia by Whyte-Hall , has released a minitorch, certified for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. It also complies with the ATEX Directive.
The Ex-Penlite weighs just 60g with cells and has a brass body with a satin-plated finish and a threaded lens cap with a plastic lens. The lens is removeable for bulb and battery replacement. A push-button switch is fitted on the end for operation with one hand. A pen clip is also incorporated in the design, allowing it to be securely retained in a pocket and preventing it from rolling off a surface. Electro-static hazards are avoided by the use of a metal body.
It uses a 2.25V, 0.25A lensed bulb. All AAA standard and LR03 high-power alkaline cells can be used, providing continuous light for up to five hours. They are suitable for use in many hazardous applications. It is a convenient light for systems and instrument engineers, giving a wide beam of uniform lighting for detailed inspection or maintenance work. Other uses include installing or reading gas meters. It can also be used as an emergency escape light for personnel in confined spaces. It is supplied complete with cells, an EC declaration of conformity and user instructions in nine European languages.
