Powermax obtains RoHS compliancy
HYPERTHERM, represented by Westgate Hi-Tech Machinery , has announced that all its Powermax600, Powermax1000, Powermax1250, and Powermax1650 systems, manufactured after July 1, 2006, are in compliance with the RoHS Directive.
The RoHS Directive seeks to reduce the use of certain hazardous substances in the manufacture of new electrical and electronic equipment, including handheld plasma arc cutting systems.
To meet the European Directive, Hypertherm redesigned the market-leading Powermax plasma arc cutting product line. Now, the company’s global customer-base will benefit from these environmentally conscience products.
The RoHS Directive applies to the eight of the ten categories covered by the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive such as large household appliances, small household appliances, IT and telecommunications equipment, consumer equipment, lighting equipment, electrical and electronic tools, toys, leisure and sporting equipment, and automatic dispensers.
Specifically, the RoHS Directive limits the use of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) for these products.
