THE new Schaffner Modula EMC immunity test system from Westek Electronics is an open-architecture solution to flexible testing.
Modula offers Interbus compatibility; Ethernet (TCP/IP) communication; compact test generators; and multi-function instruments.
The system can be tailored to a virtually unlimited number of individual testing requirements in accordance with internationally accepted EN/IEC standards.
Modula utilises the Interbus standard which is employed for the internal and external interfaces between the function modules. Ethernet (TCP/IP protocol) is used for the connection to a PC and for networking purposes.
The operating system is based on LabView programs running under Windows standard operating system software. IEC-compatible connectors are used on the equipment and test object side.
Test reports are produced on-line in an editable form thereby lightening the administrative workload for test engineers.
All of the system components are defined as functional units and besides the classic modes of interference testing such as burst, surge and power quality simulations, additional functions can be readily incorporated.
Each functional unit, e.g. pulse generator, high voltage source, coupling network, etc., reports its presence to the system master controller.
Interbus connections enable external system components to be included in the same manner as modules that are situated in the Modula system housing. These supplementary functions can be added at any time.
