Watson-Marlow Bredel has established a framework agreement with United Utilities for the supply of peristaltic pumps and spares for water industry applications.
The agreement strengthens the long-standing relationship between the two companies, which has been in existence for over 25 years.
Philip Bolton, Water Industry Specialist at Watson-Marlow Bredel says that the framework agreement is a huge positive step forward and the company looks forward to providing United Utilities with the level of service and support they have come to expect from Watson-Marlow.
As part of the framework agreement, Watson-Marlow Bredel will supply peristaltic pumps to United Utilities for the dosing, transfer and metering of liquids and slurries within the water industry.
This includes abrasive materials and chemicals such as lime slurry, ferric and sodium hypochlorite as well as sewage sludge.
Peristaltic pumps are built to perform well in challenging applications, because nothing except the chemically-resistant hose comes into contact with the pumped material.
With no valves, glands or seals, the pumps are also unaffected by gases or crystals that may be formed by the chemicals during transfer.
Peristaltic pumps are able to run dry indefinitely while maintenance is quick and simple.
Watson-Marlow Bredel supplied the first peristaltic pump to United Utilities in 1983, which is still in operation today.
