The world-leading peristaltic pump manufacturer, Watson-Marlow Bredel has acquired Flexicon, the Danish manufacturer of peristaltic aseptic filling systems.
This strategic acquisition will enhance the Watson-Marlow product offering in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors worldwide.
Flexicon UK customers will continue to deal directly with the existing UK distributor, Pak Machinery of Maidstone, Kent.
Flexicon is a specialist manufacturer of aseptic filling and capping systems featuring peristaltic pumps for pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
The Flexicon product portfolio ranges from standalone units for hand-filling and semi-automatic systems to fully automatic filling, stoppering and capping machines.
The fully automatic systems are customised to fit a wide range of containers including vials, bottles, test tubes and non-self-standing micro-tubes.
Watson-Marlow is a leading producer of peristaltic tube pumps for biotech, pharmaceutical and process applications offering one of the widest ranges of pumps, pumpheads and tubing for end-users and OEMs.
Peristaltic pumps from Watson-Marlow improve productivity, eliminate downtime and minimise maintenance.
As the pumped fluid does not come into contact with the pump and remains within the tube, Watson-Marlow pumps are particularly suitable for pharmaceutical and biotechnology processes where sterility and a high degree of precision are critical factors.
Mike Sullivan, marketing manager for Watson-Marlow says that Flexicon will add complete aseptic filling and capping systems to the Watson-Marlow peristaltic pumps range, boosting their competitive edge in pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors while enabling them to increase their market share.
The acquisition deal also includes full ownership of the Flexicon distribution company for the USA, Flexicon America.
