The Flexicon semi-automatic tabletop filling machines are being employed by Lab21 to improve accuracy and relieve repetitive manual operations at two diagnostic product facilities in Suffolk.
The investment allows Lab21 to better support screening and diagnostic laboratories with technically advanced diagnostic products.
Ian Christopher, operations director at Lab21 says that their viral/bottle handling and filling/capping operations were previously predominantly manual.
They realised that automating these operations would help improve accuracy and consistency as well as ensure the ongoing health and safety of their employees.
Lab21 specified price, compatibility and size as the basic criteria in their search for suitable automation equipment.
Lab21 selected the Flexicon FF30 semi-automatic tabletop filling and capping machine to initially handle all the mainstream products including blood grouping reagents at their Ipswich facility.
However, a rise in demand for one particular product contained in a 10ml bottle has seen the tabletop filling machines become a virtually dedicated resource.
