Watlow , designer and manufacturer of heaters, controllers and temperature sensors, has announced that Watlow’s on-off temperature and limit controllers are now compliant with the European Reduction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive (2002-95-EC).
Watlow’s on-off line of products includes the series CV, LV, CF, LF and TM controllers. These economically priced controllers are now compliant by design rather than by exception to the RoHS directive. This means Watlow uses components that meet hazardous material restrictions outlined in the directive.
RoHS bans restrict the use of several substances including lead, mercury, cadmium, hexa-valent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers.
While RoHS was developed for the European Union, similar requirements are being developed in other countries; therefore Watlow is proactively addressing these compliance issues across the board.
Watlow’s on-off temperature and limit microprocessor based controllers provide an economical solution for applications requiring simple on-off control. These control products are available in a broad range of packaging options including panel mount, DIN-rail mount, open board and open board potted allowing users to select the best version for their individual application.
The controllers can be ordered with either fixed or adjustable set point, heat or cool on-off temperature control and with high or low limit trip action.
The on-off temperature and limit controller designs provide significant improvements in the performance, repeatability and accuracy offered by analogue on-off and limit controllers.
The upgrade to RoHS compliance does not change customer model number ordering options, agency listings, price or warranty. Additional agency approvals include numerous UL recognitions, CSA, CE, W.E.E.E. and FM approval on limits.
