Walter AG has extended its portfolio of two-edged grooving inserts, series GX, from the modular grooving tool system Novex-Cut by introducing PVD-coated Tiger.tec inserts to improve users’ machining efficiency when machining steel and stainless steel.
Complementing Tiger.tec for cast iron, the new inserts exhibit high toughness, which is usually required for grooving operations and optimal cutting edge geometries are available for every workpiece material.
Due to the inserts’ special shape, they are fit for both axial and radial grooving, as well as subsequent facing.
Such versatility is of great advantage particularly when processing difficult-to-access inner contours: users can save one or several tool changes.
The inserts of the new material are available in the sizes of 16 and 24 mm (GX16, GX24) and in cut widths from 3 to 6 mm; the maximum depth of cut for the GX24 insert is 21 mm.
The new GX grooving inserts with optimised geometry are available in the Tiger.tec grade for cast iron and with CVD and PVD coating for all steels (two-colour: Tiger.tec for cast iron; golden: main application is steel; champagne: stainless steel).
