THE final element of Vipac Engineers & Scientists strategy to provide manufacturers, importers and exporters with a comprehensive research and development and certification service covering the full range of regulatory requirements, is now in place.
Vipac now provides electrical safety approvals; electrical energy labelling; water usage and labelling; gas approvals; gas efficiency labelling; and CE mark approvals.
A new trading division of Vipac, covering gas appliances, has been established.
This group has acquired the assets and intellectual property of the now defunct Australian Gas Technology Services Pty Ltd and relocated the specialist test laboratories to Vipac's main research and development centre in the Victorian Technology Centre in Port Melbourne.
Included with this organisation are the current accreditations including NATA approvals for the testing of gas components and appliances, gas quality, odour and measurement.
This NATA accreditation complements Vipac's existing NATA approvals.
Vipac will be able to test a wide range of domestic and commercial appliance, and their associated controls and components, against relevant codes, standards, equipment specifications and clients' special requirements.
Appliance testing includes water heaters and boilers; cookers; central heaters; space heaters; and commercial catering equipment.
Components testing includes gas valves/controls; pipe fittings; water and gas fittings and components; hoses/couplings; customised component tests; cycling/durability tests; and electronic controllers (analogue and digital).
As a NATA registered fully independent company, Vipac's Technology Centre is contracted by many companies to provide confidential testing services for a wide range of products - motor vehicles, automotive components, aerospace and defence and consumer goods (whitegoods, mobile phones, etc.) and industrial components (controllers, actuators, etc.)
Testing is carried out to a variety of Standards including AS, ASTM, MIL STD's (810E), ISO, DEF, and automotive standards such as those from Ford, Holden, Mitsubishi, and Toyota.
