EXFO and Vicom release the FTB-5230 optical spectrum analyser for coarse wavelength-division multiplexing (CWDM) test applications in metro and access networks.
CWDM transport systems are typically based on 20nm spacing over the entire single mode wavelength range from 1260nm to 1620nm and on the use of un-cooled lasers. They enable the delivery of multiple services within a metro or access network at a fraction of the cost of dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) setups more typically seen in long-haul systems.
The FTB-5230 OSA is a plug-and-play test module housed inside the FTB-400 field-testing platform. It covers the entire CWDM range. Since CWDM systems use lasers that are prone to wavelength and power drift, this system offers complete drift mode analysis with alarms and thresholds for all channels.
