Vectron Systems Australia recently installed Shop Ezi, a new POS retail system developed by Gap Solutions at the Farmers Foodworks in Dallas, Melbourne.
The new POS retail system, Shop Ezi comprised of systems for back office, point of sale, order and inventory control as well as shop floor scanning.
Installation was a team approach with Vectron, the Victorian distributor working alongside Gap Solutions, the system developer.
Being a popular and busy store, the Dallas supermarket was ideal for the installation as it would prove Shop Ezi’s capabilities in large busy stores as well as smaller stores.
Group-Wide POS Solution
The new Dallas store was part of the Farmers Foodworks group of four supermarkets. The other stores in the network and the head office were already running the Shop Ezi POS system.
High demand meant that owner Dom Di Cesare required a POS solution that could help him out by quickly processing transactions, keeping queues down and analysing reports.
Dom Di Cesare, Farmers Foodworks Supermarket Group says that they have been using the Shop Ezi POS software solution in their stores for almost two years now. He adds that having a single platform across the four stores has eased operations in terms of staff training and standardisation of hardware.
The conversion to the new Shop Ezi POS solutions needed to be done practically overnight. Installation though a Sunday night window meant set up could take place without disturbing Foodworks’ busy work day.
Data conversion took place overnight in addition to the conversion and installation of three of the existing tills.
While some of the original equipment was utilised, most of the hardware was replaced with Shop Ezi touch screens, PCs, printers, cash drawers and mobile software. Live training on the POS retail system was provided on Monday morning.
Easy Shop Floor Markdowns
Farmers Foodworks Dallas is also using Ezi-Mobile, part of the Shop Ezi POS software suite. These wireless handheld ordering units allow stock takes, price changes, markdowns and much more to be done on the shop floor.
Connected to the live back office database, the handheld allows staff access to current data while enabling them to manage markdowns and price changes easily.
The floor staff can highlight reduced prices to encourage impulse sales. The staff can also see sales history making markdowns more reliable. Tamperproof labels eliminate price swaps.
The new POS system has enabled Dom to successfully handle large numbers of customers while managing staff, inventory, stock and prices efficiently.
Dom expresses his satisfaction at the excellent after sales service and support.
IGA and Foodworks accredited, Shop-Ezi is already in use at over 200 independent stores operating under key banners such as IGA, IGA Supa, IGA Fresh, Foodworks and Foodland.
Vectron, an established POS technology provider, has POS systems currently installed in over 1500 sites Australia-wide.
Vectron’s Melbourne-based maintenance centre is manned by 20 highly-skilled engineers, technicians and industry specialists with full remote access capabilities.
