As the Power.org CTO since 2005, Michael Paczan chaired the Power.org Technical Committee responsible for managing the organisation’s collaborative technical initiatives.
He managed IBM's cross-organisational technical initiatives contributing to Power.org spanning System on Chip, bus architecture, platform architecture, reference designs, and software initiatives.
Michael Paczan worked closely with member companies on collaborative innovation where he was first introduced to the concepts of electronic virtualization and VaST technology.
"As I studied VaST’s solutions, I came to realize that they had unique technology and products that addressed one of the most acute challenges in electronics design—the concurrent design of hardware and software," Michael Paczan said.
"I realized that this was a rare opportunity to significantly impact the electronics industry and leverage my experience gained at IBM working leading-edge processor and compute system design."
"I am delighted to have Michael join our team. His stellar career as a technology executive has ranged from processor design to system architecture, and overseeing the collaborative efforts of successful initiatives such as IBM’s Power.org." said Alain Labat, President and CEO of VaST Systems Technology.
"His expertise in leading the development and application of new technology through multi-company multi-cultural joint development is a particularly valuable asset to VaST."
Prior to his work with Power.org, Michael Paczan was the director the Sony/Toshiba/IBM (STI) Design Center at IBM working jointly to develop the Cell broadband multiprocessor. He has also served as a program manager for Dell, and a co-director of the IBM/Motorola Somerset Design Center.
