In recent years innovative techniques for level measurement of bulk solids have been developed, for example the level sensors from VEGA Grieshaber KG. The radar level sensors VEGAPULS 67 and 68, available from Vega Australia , were specially developed for bulk solid applications, which offer significant technical advantages such as ultrasonic or plumb line systems.
The radar level sensors work reliably under conditions of intense dust and noise generation as well as high temperatures. Due to its non-contact measuring principle, radars are beneficial especially in the aggregates and mining industry.
The level sensors are used in a wide range of applications – from crusher feeder monitoring to level measurement in bunkers, with grain sizes ranging from coarse crushed rock to powdery filler. The compact sensor dimensions has enabled easy mounting on conveying equipment, for example, for measuring the height of a bulk material heap.
Different sensor versions are available for a wide variety of measurement tasks. The small, compact VEGAPULS 67 is suitable for applications with measuring ranges up to 15m. With the universal sensor VEGAPULS 68, the most difficult measurements involving distances up to 70 m can also be realised.
