Upwey Valve & Engineering has won an order for the Fluor/HVC mill optimisation project in British Columbia, Canada.
A specialist in slurry and tailing valves, Upwey Valves is an Australian owned ISO9001 certified company manufacturing their products in Australia.
The contract will require Upwey Valve to supply 38-200mm Ezivac air release valves to this brownfield project. A smaller niche manufacturer, the company went up against a number of international players and won on the merits of ‘value, quality and specialist skills’.
The TISO valve (Twin In-Single Out Valve) is a ‘Tech-Taylor’ style ball check valve used to isolate pumps mounted in parallel. TISO style valves are popular in mineral processing cyclone circuits.
TISO valves are typically used with standby pumps, which are often employed in critical areas of a processing plant. It is common practice to have two pumps discharge into a common line. Without the TISO valve, this would require a shut-off valve on each pump discharge and a 'Y' fitting.
The body of the TISO valve replaces the 'Y' fitting and its automatic ball action replaces the shutoff valves.
The TISO valve performs these functions automatically without any external energy source. The TISO valve is designed for maximum abrasion resistance and minimal pressure drop, making it a trouble-free addition to a piping system.
Manufactured and tested in accordance with AS4037 and ASME B16.34-2009, TISO valves are available in 2" (50mm) through to 24" (600mm) sizes with 10/20/25 Bar ratings.
Key features of TISO valves include: all wetted parts lined with hot vulcanised natural rubber; optionally supplied with flange or Victaulic fittings; no actuators or controls required; minimal pressure drop; self-operating design to eliminate actuator requirement; Grade 350 heavy duty carbon steel construction; abrasive clean finish to 1.5 and painted with Interzone 954 2 part epoxy; hollow aluminium urethane coated ball; 304 stainless steel replaceable seats; and replaceable internal ball guides.
