B&K Precision, represented in Australia by Unispan Instruments , has released the 4012A sweep/function generator. It combines several functions into one low-cost unit and is suitable for analogue and digital applications including engineering, manufacturing, servicing and education. It can produce precision sine, square, or triangle waves over the 0.5Hz to 5MHz range. This encompasses subaudible, audio, ultrasonic and RF applications.
Its functions include waveform generation, pulse generation (through variable symmetry) and frequency sweep. It has a built-in frequency counter. This allows more accurate determination of output frequency than is possible with a simple calibrated dial. Course and fine tuning controls permit precision setting of the output frequency. A continuously variable dc offset allows the output to be injected directly into circuits at the correct dc bias level.
Operating as a sweep generator, the 4012A offers linear or log sweep with variable sweep rate and adjustable sweep time. Variable symmetry of the output waveform converts the instrument to a pulse generator capable of generating rectangular waves or pulses, ramp or saw tooth waves, and slewed sine waves. It comes with a warranty, line chord, and user manual.
