B+K Precision, represented in Australia by Unispan Instruments , has released the 889A synthesised bench in-circuit LCR/ESR meter.
The instrument has a computer interface and can be used to test components at frequencies up to 200kHz with a basic accuracy of 0.1%. It is suitable for applications in electronic engineering labs, production facilities, service shops, and schools.
It is designed for both component evaluation on the production line and fundamental impedance testing from bench-top applications. BNC connectors and special test leads are mounted to the front panel allowing a variety of components to be tested. It is capable of dc/ac voltage and current measurements and diode/audible continuity checks.
It is defaulted to auto ranging but can be set to auto or manual ranging by pressing the range hold key. When LCR measurement mode is selected the test frequencies of 100Hz, 120Hz, 1KHz, 10KHz, 100KHz or 200KHz may be selected on all applicable ranges. Test voltages of 50mV rms, 0.25V MS, 1V rms or 1V dc (DCR only) can also be selected on all applicable ranges. The dual display permits simultaneous measurements. When dc/ac voltage or current measurements modes or the diode/audible continuity check mode are selected, only the secondary display is used.
The meter offers measurement parameters including Z, Ls, Lp, Cs, Cp, DCR, ESR, D, Q and D. It also covers test conditions including 100Hz, 120Hz, 1kHz, 10kHz, 100kHz, 200kHz, 1V rms, 0.25V rms and 0.05V rms.
