A NEW touch screen interface, which allows operators to control four printers at once, has been released by Markem Corporation.
The company's research and development focus on accessibility, control and versatility has produced what Markem says is the smartest common user interface (CUI) on the market -- SmartTouch.
The SmartTouch enables users to run diagnostic checks, update messages, create images, revise equipment settings and exchange information between machines without the aid of a personal computer.
Australian agent Unimark says the SmartTouch also brings real time and cost savings. The unit can be plugged-in or unplugged from equipment without affecting production, while onboard Compact Flash capabilities provide a low cost solution to moving files from printer to printer or PC to printer.
On its release at the November PackExpo 2002 in Chicago, the CUI unit was showcased with the range of SmartDate thermal printers.
The applications are much wider, however, and Markem says SmartTouch will soon be available with the full range of Markem equipment.
