Ultraspin Technology recently supplied Western Australian gold and copper mining company, Newcrest, with an Ultrapak primary skimming system to skim free oil from the wash pad area.
At the Newcrest facility, water from the underground wash pad areas is pumped into an aboveground collection pit using submersible pumps.
The problem faced was the need for a way to remove the free oil before it entered their evaporation ponds.
The solution Ultraspin Technology supplied was a primary skimming system, installed where the gross oil accumulated, to remove the free oil from the wash pad collection pit. The skimmed oil and water is pumped through the 3mm strainer basket that protects the pump from blockages. The oil and water is then pumped to the oil/decant tank.
Specific equipment supplied to Newcrest includes:
- skid mounted primary skimming system
- S1 skimmer
- back up strainer
- 9000L oil collection/decant tank.
