An oily water separation system with aeration tank was installed by Ultraspin Technology for the Centennial Coal Company Limited at Fassifern, NSW.
Two oily water separators were installed to treat site effluent from the washpad of underground mining vehicles.
Key components of the oily water separation system:
- 2 sets of Ultraspin OS20 model oil water separator
- L1 level switch
- S1 skimmer and hose assembly
- 500L oil collection decant tank and aeration tank
The oily water separators were designed for treated water flow of 1.75m³/hour with pump feed pressure of 350 kPa. The collection pit has a capacity of 5000L.
The Ultraspin oil water separators were installed to treat the washdown water from underground mining vehicles to meet statutory discharge standards.
Influents from the washdown include contaminants such as oil (floating and suspended), grease, fuel, engine oil and detergents.
The treated water from the Ultraspin oily water separator is subjected to an aeration process to remove BTEX and increase dissolved oxygen levels, and discharged to the stormwater system.
