TYCO Electronics has introduced the GPS module A1035-A, which is not just another antenna module - it incorporates Tyco's high-end GPS receiver A1029-A, and takes advantage of its communication capabilities, by adding a CANbus interface to the product.
This communication channel makes the module especially attractive for automotive applications or in areas, where position, velocity and time information needs to be transmitted over long distance.
The voltage input can range from 7 to 30V reflecting automotive requirements. Based on SiGe's RF downconverter SE 4100L and STMicroelectronics' GPS processor STA2051 the module offers high sensitivity in combination with a short TTFF. To support this, a battery back-up input, including the according circuit, is integrated.
The product can be customised and will be available for OEM application as a hardware core platform that can be integrated into different enclosures.
