Formed in 2001, the Truck Industry Council (TIC) is an independent, peak organisation that represent the united view of truck manufacturers, importers, diesel engine companies and major component suppliers to Governments, political parties, other industry groups and the general public.  

Key objectives of the Truck Industry Council includes:
  • promote community benefits of modern truck technologies that ensure an innovative, safe and environmentally friendly truck industry in Australia;
  • to act as a discussion forum for member companies on issues 
  • to share, legally and ethically, market information to its members to better understand and serve the industry in Australia
  • promote the image and development of employment and career opportunities in the industry to the public and educational institutions
  • promote and develop a positive public and media image for the truck manufacturers and supplier industry
  • work professionally with other industry associations
The Council currently consist of 16 member companies that represent 19 truck brands, 2 engine companies and a heavy vehicle major component supplier.

TIC works cooperatively with all governments to ensure that the standards and regulations being proposed are technically feasible, are cost effective, and provide the world's best safety and environmental benefits.
