Trimble Australia announces that the Trimble Quantm alignment planning system has been chosen by the Russian High-Speed Rail Authority to explore alternatives for two high-speed rail lines.
The Russian study is examining the feasibility of two 1,600km high-speed rail lines; the first line will connect Moscow to Yekaterinburg while the second line would connect Moscow to Sochi. The Trimble Quantm system will be used to help find the optimal alignment for the preferred route, support the quantity and cost estimates and reports, and aid project planners in the decision-making process.
The Quantm technology will allow the Russian High-Speed Rail Authority to rapidly view a wide range of alternatives after considering the social, environmental and design constraints and present preferred options to stakeholders for public consultation during 2013.
Trimble’s Quantm system represents a holistic approach to creating new infrastructure by integrating engineering, environmental, social and economic factors into a simultaneous analysis of alternatives for rail and road planning.
