Trimble has launched a handheld field data collector that provides wireless operations in field and office.
The Trimble TSC2 is designed for use with GPS and optical total stations. It comes with Microsoft Windows Mobile software for the Pocket PC operating system and runs a range of Trimble field software.
Used with field software such as Trimble Survey Controller, the controller can collect and manage GPS and optical data files by simply switching the controller between sensors.
It has a changeable cap to allow use with removable media such as memory cards, GPRS, GPS and cameras.
The TSC2 controller’s integrated Bluetooth wireless technology eliminates cable hassles and speeds set up. Rover use becomes completely cable free when used with an advanced GPS system.
The internal 2.4GHz radio option means the controller is easy to use with Trimble S6 or Trimble 5600 robotic total stations. The expandable media function allows full wireless communication to the Internet in the field with the addition of a GSM/GPRS modem.
In the office, data is readily transferred over a wireless 802.11 LAN and in remote locations hotspots are used to securely share data with the office.
The controller also operates in extreme temperatures ranging from -30 ºC to +60 ºC and can withstand a pole drop of 1.2m on to a hard surface.
