German company igus has extended its igubal range of polymer self-aligning bearings to include a new rod end bearing with an integrated nut.

Available in Australia through Treotham Automation, this second-generation rod end bearing is particularly easy to assemble, with a hexagonal housing allowing customers to use a spanner along the complete shaft length.

As with all igubal machine components made of high-performance polymer compounds, the rod end bearing is dry running and therefore maintenance-free.

The unique selling point about igubal’s extended range of polymer self-aligning bearings is that customers can choose the ball material well suited to their particular application.

This is made possible due to a new production method that has removed previous material restrictions, and thus made new variations on the pre-existing range possible.

Some examples of these new freedoms are: the iglidur X ball for high pressure resistance under permanently high temperatures; iglidur J, offering a particularly low friction value; iglidur UW which is ideal for underwater applications; and iglidur R, an economic cost-saving version.

Because the service life of each version can also be calculated, users are offered not only a greater choice; above all they gain higher operational safety, service life, and an improvement in system quality.

The igubal rod end bearing (part number KBRM-10-CL) is available immediately with a shaft diameter of 10mm, and diameters of 6mm, 8mm and 12mm will be available soon.
