The CAT6A cables from igus have been developed for a data rate of 10 gigabytes even during permanent movement. Sufficient protection for the required 500 MHz frequency is provided by equipping the wire pairs and the whole cable with the special igus braid shield offering more than 90% optical cover.
The bending factor of the new CAT6A from igus is particularly low at only 12.5 x cable diameter allowing a reduction in machine design space.
A close-mesh, homogeneous copper wire braiding protects both the wire pairs twisted with short pitch lengths and the complete shield from breaking, even with small bending radii. The new CAT6A sheathing is made of highly abrasion-proof TPE ex stock to protect the shield braid. Variants with PUR and PVC sheathing are also available.
The shielded braid increases the electromagnetic compatibility of the cable. The shielded pairs are stranded using an optimised pitch length in such a way that they can cope with the high mechanical requirements on the one hand, and meet the electrical requirements for data transmission on the other.
