BHP Billiton is using the DriBoss DBE-750E floating evaporator to successfully evaporate highly-corrosive waste water at one of their evaporation ponds.
Since natural pan evaporation was not fast enough at the evaporation pond, BHPB required a solution, which would allow them to evaporate the wastewater in the ponds so that the level could be kept at a manageable position.
DriBoss DBE-750E floating evaporators are capable of evaporating highly-corrosive waste water in excess of 1300m³ per month.
The floating evaporator delivers significant benefits to BHPB as the waste water is kept at a manageable level with no requirement for overflow or pumping that could potentially harm the environment.
Incorporating a 25hp 3 phase motor, which drives the fan and a 7.5hp pump with a capacity of 250 litres per minute, the DriBoss DBE-750E floating evaporators are automatically controlled from an on-land control station equipped with a weather station.
