The new AFLAS gaskets are especially beneficial for Tranter plates in difficult applications that demand the use of special material. AFLAS, an FEPM (tetrafluoroethylene propylene copolymer) material with excellent resistance to a variety of media such as mineral acids, bases, organics, amines and steam, is the material of choice for products and systems that work in tough environments and require high reliability.
While AFLAS gaskets can be offered on any of Tranter’s conventional plate designs, they are not currently available on wide gap plates.
The AFLAS gaskets have been tested in Tranter’s lab to a maximum operating temperature of 180°C and a maximum design pressure of 16 bar using 0.6mm thick stainless steel plates. Similar to FKM in pressure and temperature characteristics, AFLAS gaskets are recommended for use with plates of 0.6mm minimum thickness as AFLAS is a harder gasket material than the conventional NBR and EPDM materials.
