A notable German automobile manufacturer could be convinced once more thereof when the equipment of a car body plant with robot tongs for the joining of metal sheets at different positions was at stake.
After several consultations and comprehensive tests, documented by test reports, with specially designed Tox round point tool sets, the decision was taken in favour of a complete solution from Tox Pressotechnik.
Altogether three Tox robot tongs were ordered, each pair of tongs with two different Tox round point clinching tool sets for exchange. As drive the electro-mechanic variant in form of the Tox-electricdrive power modules EPMR was chosen. They come up to the high expectations regarding flexibility, modularity and precision.
Among other advantages, the individual programming of each Tox clinch point is possible, thanks to the especially user friendly Tox software. Due to the short and compact execution of the drive, more space is available for moving the robot.
The shape of the bows was adapted to the contours of customer’s pieceparts and the space conditions. The throat depth, i.e. the free space between tool and bow throat is 150, 350 and 450 mm. And also the cable harness, controls as well as the couplings for the quick change of the robot tongs are included in the volume of supply.
The Tox clinch robot tongs together with the quick-action couplings have been completely mounted in the works so that on site just the flanging of the tongs and the connection of the cable loom was necessary. The customer received a system solution for the joining of car body panels ready for connection from one single source.
