Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced a new series of pressure transmitters from Druck which combine modular design with the latest advances in ASIC technology and surface mounted electronics. This provides a lightweight and cost effective alternative to the traditional pressure gauges and switches.

The new PTX 7800 series employs Druck's piezo-resistive silicon technology. This has been extensively qualified and proven, for example, in aerospace and subsea programmes which demand the highest levels of performance and long term reliability.

The PTX 7800 series features a ‘standardised’ core which is available in operating pressure ranges from 70mbar up to 700 bar gauge or 100mbar up to 700 bar absolute, with proportional 2 wire 4-20mA output.

User preferred pressure units and intermediate span values can be specified between these limits and compound (bi-directional gauge) ranges can be supplied.

To simplify the replacement of pressure gauges and switches, the PTX 7800 series is available with a G1/2 male threaded pressure connection. Alternatives include G1/4 female, G1/2 male to BS EN387-1 (DIN 16288) and 1/2 NPT male.

For ease of electrical connection, a standard M20 male conduit entry is supplied with integral cable. Accuracy is ±0.25% F.S. for combined non-linearity, hysteresis and repeatability and the operating temperature range of -40 to 100°C ambient is standard.

The sensor is enclosed by an electron beam welded stainless steel body and Hastelloy isolation diaphragm. This rugged construction ensures compatibility with a wide range of pressure media and the ability to withstand even severe operating conditions.

The PTX 7800 series also offers RFI immunity, meeting the highest level of CE marking requirements for heavy industrial use. ATEX intrinsically safe and flameproof versions are also available for use within certified hazardous areas.
