Thermo Fisher Scientific has introduced a new range of ultrasonic clamp-on flow meters from GE designed to minimise downtime and improve productivity in flow measurement applications. The new product joins GE’s comprehensive range of accurate, flexible and reliable ultrasonic flow meters, vortex multivariable flow meters, and fixed and portable flowmeters, all distributed by Thermo Fisher Scientific.

GE ultrasonic clamp-on flow meters combine state-of-the-art flow measurement capability with a low-cost transmitter package that can be installed right at the process measurement point. Based on the Transit Time flow measurement method, the flow meter has two transducers serving as ultrasonic signal generator and receiver and in acoustic communication with each other. This means both transducers can receive ultrasonic signals from each other. The difference between the downstream and upstream transit ties is proportional to the velocity of the flowing liquid and its sign indicates the direction of flow.

The new ultrasonic clamp-on flow meters offer maximum convenience and flexibility at a very low installation cost in comparison with traditional flow metering technologies. Clamp-on transducers also provide better than 1% of reading accuracy in most applications.

GE ultrasonic clamp-on flow meters offer economical non-intrusive flow measurement as well as ease of use with an extremely simple setup and clamp-on installation. Designed to suit a wide range of pipe sizes and materials, the flow meters can be used for velocity, volumetric and totalised flow outputs. The flow meter also offers a permanent solid couplant for clamp-on applications.

The new clamp-on flow meters can be used in flow measurement applications involving potable water, discharge water, irrigation water, chemicals, diesel fuel, waste water, hydrocarbon liquids, lubricating oil, crude oil, sewage, cooling and heating water, beverages and diesel fuel oils among various liquids.
