Lean manufacturing services from The Improve Group


A breakfast event was held on May 9, in conjunction with the Association for Manufacturing Excellence to discuss “Performance improvement methodologies” for the manufacturing industry.

David Richens, Manufacturing Excellent Coach for The Improve Group was one among the three guest speakers along with Martin Collard, Lean Business Improvement Leader with Dyno Nobel and Tracey Hodgkins -Director, Curtin Innovation & Australia Experiential Learning Centre.

Perth manufacturers were invited to find out more about Lean Manufacturing and what it means to them, how it can improve their manufacturing processes and culture and ultimately cut costs and time.

David Richens is one among The Improve Group’s Manufacturing Excellence Coaches. The Improve Group is Australasia’s ideal provider of productivity improvement programmes and resources.

David Richens has several years’ management experience in a world-class automotive manufacturing environment with a Toyota Group Company.

During this time he also completed specialist training undertaken in Japan and the USA in lean manufacturing processes. Before emigrating from the U.K in 2007, David Richens worked in a U.K. Industry Forum – taking the Common Approach Master class into wider industry.

Martin Collard is a Lean Business Improvement Leader with experience based on over 19 years industry management and consultancy with a constant focus on Lean business transformation, improvement and change delivered across a diverse variety of sectors and industries. These include manufacturing, mining operations, service, automotive & government.

Tracey Hodgkins is a serial entrepreneur, innovator, and change catalyst. She is the Founder and Director of The Australian Experiential Learning Centre, which has been recognised as cutting edge by industry world-wide. AELC is setting the pace in career and entrepreneurship education globally.

The Performance Improvement Methodologies event was held at Fraser’s Restaurant, Kings Park and around 40 Perth-based members took part in it, all keen to learn more about changing and improving their practices and their culture.

The Improve Group works closely with industry and industry associations to help promote awareness of lean programmes to Australian manufacturers.

Lean practices are well known throughout Europe, Asia and the United States of America. Companies such as Toyota are the ideal examples of Lean Manufacturing and are considered the worldwide benchmark for lean practices.
