The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) recently completed a major contract to supply temporary security barriers to Australia’s second largest shopping centre located in Sydney.
One of the largest contracts ever awarded in Australia for trackless trellis security doors, the project required ATDC to supply and install 250 lineal metres of temporary security barriers to secure multiple locations in the shopping centre.
Castle Towers Shopping Centre in Sydney’s Castle Hill, owned by QIC contracted ATDC to supply the security barriers to meet the access control requirements of the site. ATDC installed the trackless trellis security doors across mall areas, around escalators, travelators and stairwells, and at the food courts. All the barriers were installed at a height of 2000mm to serve as an effective deterrent.
Key improvements in ATDC’s portable gates for this contract included using 75mm rubber castors with metal bearings for smoother operation of the barriers, as well as installing engineered metal lockable arms to contain the doors in their stacked position allowing for easier handling.
Carried out over four nights, the installation ensured there was no interruption to normal shopping centre operations.
James Gibbeson, the centre’s operations manager commented that ATDC completed all tasks professionally and without risk. He added that the barricades presented well and he was impressed with the smoothness of the wheels.
ATDC’s barriers have multiple applications including access control, securing factory loading docks when the loading dock shutter is open, securing kiosks in shopping centres, securing malls, food courts and walkways, securing temporary tenancies and pop up shops, and also for providing worksafe areas.
A major advantage of ATDC’s trackless trellis security doors is that they can span an unlimited width at any angle, even in a curved format, and can be wheeled away when not in use and stored out of sight. Customers include Westfield, AMP, Lend Lease, Stocklands, Centro, Colonial Mutual, and Mirvac.
Fabricated from steel, the barriers are precision engineered and have a professional powder-coated high gloss finish for durability and long lifetime.
The Australian family owned business currently supplies one of Australasia’s most diverse ranges of precision engineered expanding trellis security doors in steel and aluminium, suitable for securing most residential, commercial and industrial applications.
