TETRA Pak has added a range of resealable opening devices to some of its 1L Tetra Brik Aseptic packages.
It has released new version its FlexiCap opening for UHT milk applications on the Tetra Brik Aseptic 1000 Baseline and Tetra Brik Aseptic 1000 Slimline. It offers tamper evidence and opening is performed in a single operation. Pouring is guided by a v-shaped pouring hole and the package can be resealed after opening.
FlexiCap is applied to the package in the actual filling machine by a direct injection moulding concept (DIMC) applicator. The customer requires less downstream equipment and can therefore save on floor space required for a complete packaging line.
The FlexiCap opening on Tetra Brik Aseptic 1000 Baseline and Slimline packages is currently available on TBA/8 packaging lines. Most existing model TBA/8 filling machines can be rebuilt to run FlexiCap by adding a DIMC unit and by changing some parts of the filling machine. The FlexiCap opening will also be available shortly on the Tetra Pak A3/Flex filling machine.
SlimCap is an opening device for Tetra Brik Aseptic packages and has been made available on the Tetra Brik Aseptic 1000 Slimline package. The opening adds minimal package height.
The opening consists of a screw cap and a ring-pull, both made entirely of HDPE plastic, and a standard PullTab opening which is made of aluminium. The ring-pull is attached to the PullTab.
TBA 1000 S SlimCap packages are opened by unscrewing the cap and breaking two plastic bridges that act as tamper evidence. Then the user pulls the plastic ring, which in turn tears open the PullTab. Once closed, the package is completely resealed. TBA 1000 S SlimCap is available on TBA/8,TBA/21 and Tetra Pak A3/Flex packaging lines.
SlimCap customers using TBA 1000 S ReCap can add the Tetra Cap Applicator 47, which has been developed to apply SlimCap. Customers operating Tetra Cardboard Packer 70 equipment will need only slight adjustments to those machines.
TBA 1000 S SlimCap is available for a variety of liquid dairy products, juices, nectars and still drinks. The opening is available in a number of colours. StreamCap on TBA 1000 square packages is a screw-cap opening that allows customers to package aggressive products such as tomato juices with salts, formulated soups and juices with fruit particles.
The opening has visible tamper evidence. An internal cutter breaks the package membrane when unscrewed. Pouring control is good and the square shape of the package makes it easy to handle. The cap is smooth to grip and can be resealed when reclosed.
Tetra Brik Aseptic 1000 Square StreamCap packages are available on TBA/8, TBA/21 and Tetra Pak A3/Flex packaging lines.
The Tetra Cap Applicator 88 (TCAP 88) is required to apply StreamCap to the TBA 1000 Square package. It is the same applicator used for SpinCap and if customers wish to switch to StreamCap they can do so by means of a simple rebuilding.
