TENROD Australia's LineoLEDs lighting solution uses the 30mA DD233-MSOP8 4-channel driver by Silicon Touch. With a compact MSOP08 package, the driver IC takes up only a very small PCB area enabling a slim outline light source.
LEDs in arrays need constant current driving - for consistent driving current through each LED. Putting a resistor across each LED will not ensure the current through each LED in the array will be the same because every LED has its own voltage drop value.
Illumination and colour from each LED varies with its current. With constant current driving it will be possible to facilitate a constant current through each LED despite the fact that each LED has its own voltage drop and variations in the supply voltage.
Thus constant current driving will reduce the variation in output caused by the current variations through each LED.
