Tecpro Australia announces a new range of ATEX certified fog makers designed for dust suppression applications in areas at risk of explosion.
Recommended for mine sites, storage facilities, mills or similar environments, where dust can pose a significant health, safety, environmental and even explosive hazard, the ATEX fog maker is the first in Tecpro’s range to have this certification.
According to Tecpro Australia Managing Director Graeme Cooper, the new ATEX certified fog maker is an excellent innovation for dust prone environments at risk of explosion, and will be welcomed by those in charge of health and safety across diverse industrial settings.
Certain types of dust are combustible, including coal, sulphur, grain, flour, sugar, sawdust, magnesium, cotton and even powdered metals such as titanium and aluminium. The risk of explosion is exacerbated by hot conditions, an ever-present problem in many places throughout Australia.
Mr Cooper explains that explosions can occur when there is a high concentration of combustible dust and an oxidising agent such as oxygen, a situation made worse with high air temperatures. In these conditions, the smallest electrical spark is sufficient to ignite an explosion.
The ATEX fog maker available through Tecpro Australia is made in Italy by Idrotech, an internationally acclaimed designer and manufacturer of industrial fogging equipment.
Describing the new ATEX certified fog maker as an important breakthrough, Mr Cooper says the fogging equipment offers a powerful way to combat dust in potentially combustible environments, operating at a high pressure 50 bar, and propelling a fine mist up to 60 metres in the absence of wind. When the fog and dust come in contact, they combine readily and fall to the ground, aided by gravity.
Key features and benefits of Tecpro ATEX certified fog makers include 156 nebulising nozzles in the unit’s mouth; fog droplet size equivalent to the size of dust particles; nozzles mounted in 3 spray rings, which can be operated independently allowing the volume of mist to be changed to suit conditions; 10 different capacity sizes of nozzles for more flexibility; 340-degree rotation field; and steel platform mounted for easy operation.
Mr Cooper comments that the fog mist is so fine, it evaporates quickly, eliminating the risk of water pooling or run off, further reducing environmental and safety risk. He adds that the ATEX fog maker is ideal for settings where there may be gases or fumes present. A noise barrier reduces the noise output during operation.
Tecpro supplies a wide range of dust suppression solutions throughout Australia and overseas.
