CNC Software's Mastercam, represented in Australia by Technology Sales and Support , is the most commonly used CAM software product according to CIMdata, an independent research firm specialising in the NC industry.
Alan Christman, CIMdata vice president of, said CNC Software was the worldwide leader in terms of total seats shipped in 2000 and total number of seats installed.
"There are more seats of Mastercam installed in both industrial sites and in educational sites than that provided by any other vendor," he added.
With 11.9 per cent of the total CAM market share, Mastercam has more than twice as many installed seats as its closest competitor.
Developed by CNC Software, Mastercam is Windows-based CAD/CAM software for 2 through 5-axis milling, turning, 2 and 4-axis wire EDM, 2-D and 3-D design, surface and solid modeling.
CNC Software is a privately-owned corporation founded in 1984. The US-based company provides Mastercam CAD/CAM solutions to more than 60,000 installations in 75 countries.
Mastercam runs under Windows NT, Windows 98, Windows 2000, and Windows ME and is compatible with all other CAD/CAM systems.
