TECHNICAL & Scientific Equipment Co recently released the new ALMEMO 2690.8 hand held data logger for use in harsh environments.
The new instrument includes a shock absorbing rubber cover and it has an environmental rating of IP54 if used with ALMEMO waterproof input and output connectors.
When dual channel input connectors are used, the 2690.8 can display and log up to ten single-ended signal sources concurrently and stores up to 100,000 readings.
As with all ALMEMO instruments, the 2690.8 has as many 'virtual' channels as prime channels, which enable derivative parameters from the prime channels to be also displayed and logged.
The data can be displayed as lists of alpha-numeric data, or graphically in plot or histogram format.
All 'live' channels can be concurrently displayed allowing channel-to-channel on-the-spot visual comparison and the white background of the back-lit LCD display enables the data to be visible in dark and well lit locations.
With outdoor use in mind, the instructions for the operation of the 2690.8 appear as prompts on the screen, negating the need for a hard copy manual in the field.
Each instrument is also supplied with hard copy manuals plus a CD including AMR-Control software.
The software enables the 2690.8 to be set up via a PC and it also includes a simple database into which the data logged by the 2690.8 can be uploaded and analysed.
Each logged result is labelled with the date and time, the numeric value of the signal, the engineering unit, plus other symbols, if applicable.
