An online algae monitor with algae class determination has been delivered to Melbourne Water for installation early this year.
The instrument enables them to monitor algae levels in the water, and gives information such as algae concentrations in µg/l or cell count, algae class (up to 5 classes simultaneously), transmissivity, temperature, activity measurement (Genty Parameter), and compensates for yellow substances.
Alarm levels can be set for each parameter, giving early warning of any potential problems.
The instrument has an inbuilt PC for capturing and analysing the algae data, a sample pump to draw the sample into the algae sensor, with analogue, LAN and serial outputs.
The instrument can be used as a stand alone analyser, or connected to an external PC, or existing SCADA network.
The internal PC is loaded with Windows XP, and the AOA software. The display is configurable to show any of the parameters including raw data.
When the graphs are selected, they can show algae concentration, Genty (algae activity), transmissivity and temperature.
