Materials Testers for tensile, compression, bend, peel, friction & fatigue applications
Product/Service Name
Materials testing equipment
Application/Function:
Engineering materials by their nature are used for manufacture of components which have to withstand stress, strain, impact and environmental exposure, and all these properties need to be tested. Materials testing requires a range of tensile, compression and impact tests, with many specific variants for particular applications including shear, peel and tear, and head distortion temperature. Each of these materials test operations must be designed to effectively reflect the service performance required of the material. In many situations the failure mode must be constrained to match the real use situation, by preventing failure in the grip mechanism, forcing cracks to appear in certain locations etc. The tests set out to simulate some or all of the conditions to be encountered in service, and it is important to take account of sample size, stress state, environmental and other factors in choosing the optimum method. Sometimes the methods are specified exactly in standards specified by bodies such as ASTM, DIN, ISO, AS/NZS, but often it is necessary to interpret the various standards to choose the most appropriate test method.
Our range of materials testing equipment can be used for plastics, metals, ceramics, composites and adhesives. Our range includes Lloyd and SANS tensile testers, compression testers, impact testers, Melt Flow Index (MFI), Heat distortion testers (HDT). Ancillary equipment includes Envirotronics environmental chambers, CAMCO vacuum ovens and many others. All equipment is supported by more than 35 years of experience in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, to help you decide the right test and equipment.
The Lloyd Instruments range of Universal tensile/compression testers have established a reputation as a market leader over many years, and are supplemented by the outstanding Nexygen control & reporting software which offers the most user friendly interface but extraordinary levels of complexity and sophistication are available for the skilled user.
