article image “Compact and stylish”: the Targus USB hub

WITH more and more computer peripherals using USB as a standard means of connection, there can never be enough USB ports on a PC. Answering this problem, Targus Australia has released two new high-speed (480 Mbs) hubs, the ACH80AU with four ports and the ACH81AU with seven.

Compact (8.2 x 3 x 13.3cm) and stylish, the hubs provide a simple and effective way of adding more USB capability to a computer.

Allowing the instant connection of such USB devices as mice, keyboards, memory drives, cameras and printers, both hubs also offer pass-through stereo audio ports on the front and back to provide convenient connection. This latter feature provides a convenient way to connect audio devices without any need to access the back of the PC.

Powered by an AC adaptor, the hubs also feature two high-power ports that deliver twice the current (1000mA) of standard USB ports even when the PC is shut down (ideal for charging iPods, phones, mice or other peripherals).

Operating under Windows 2000, Me, XP and Mac OS X (10.2 and above), the hubs have a recommended retail price of $49.95 for the four port and $69.95 for the seven port.

With a Targus one-year warranty, they are available from reputable computer outlets throughout Australia.
