EPSON, represented by TE Australia , has released a dual output crystal oscillator MG-5020JE series that provides 32.768kHz and 48MHz frequencies in one compact package (7 x 5.4 x 1.5 mm³).
Since many USB applications require both frequencies, the MG-5020JE is an ideal choice for simplifying design and reduction of needed parts.
The MG-5020JE series combines a built-in 32.768kHz crystal unit allowing adjustment-free 32.768kHz clock frequency output and a 48MHz PLL based oscillation frequency output.
With the new design, all that is necessary for obtaining the dual outputs is a power supply. This means there is no need for adjustment, no problems of dimensioning components, no troubles in choosing a crystal with the right parameters.
The wide operating temperature range (-40 to +85°C) enables these devices to be used also in industrial PC applications. With stabilities of 5 ±23 x 10-6 for the 32.768kHz frequency and ±100 x 10-6 for the 48MHz frequency, Epson provides standard solutions even on a very high technological level.
Mass production for the new dual output crystal oscillator has already started; volume quantities are currently available.
